Jul 2011 - Film Society Huge Success!
Crowlands Film Society has been operating continuously since 2004! Those seven years have been so successful, that the Committee of Management, at its recent AGM decided to now make screenings for members - FREE!
You can become a member on any screening night by simply registering your name and email address.
Membership entitles you to a FREE drink on arrival, FREE film and FREE supper.
Further, it was decided to increase our number of screenings to six per year. Two will still be at the Hall with four at Travellers' Rest.
Driving to Success
Another success story is the triumph of Edward Grimmer's film, "Driving Miss Conception" at the Short Film Festival. A comedy shot between here and Hamilton, Edward's film narrowly edged out other entries from local filmmakers. He collected a $100 prize and a certificate for the Golden Crow Award. The competition is sure to be fierce for the May 2013 Festival.
Apr 2007
The Society has plans to produce its own short film.
It will be a black & white film set in the 1950s and shot in a grand feature-film “ David Lean” style.
The simple story tells of a farmer returning from the field and treating his wife to the movies.
